If you’ve passed all units in your course except one, you may be able to apply for a Last to Complete assessment instead of repeating the unit.

You may be eligible if you meet all of the following:

  • you’ve passed every unit in your course except one
  • you failed that unit in your final teaching period
  • you received an overall mark between 40 and 49%
  • you completed all required assessments for the unit (a genuine attempt)
  • the unit is required to complete your course
  • you haven’t previously been granted a Last to Complete assessment
  • you’re not enrolled in a nested course, or you’re in the final stage of a nested course and haven’t used your one entitlement
  • If the unit wasn’t offered in your final teaching period, the failure may be from your second last teaching period.

Important to know

  • Last to Complete is only available for your very last unit needed to finish your course
  • Supplementary assessments can be offered at any point during your course, depending on eligibility
  • if you have more than one unit left to complete, Last to Complete won’t apply
  • Last to Complete will not be granted if failure of the unit was caused by academic misconduct.

How to apply

  • submit your application by midday, five working days after final results are published
  • you can only apply once all results are released

What happens next

  • you’ll be notified of the outcome via your Swinburne student email
  • if you pass, you’ll receive a mark of 50 and an SP Passed Supplementary grade
  • if you don’t pass or don’t attempt the assessment, an SN Failed Supplementary grade will apply
