I failed a unit, do I have to repeat it?

If the failed unit is a core unit in your course, you will need to re-attempt it in a subsequent semester to pass it.

If the unit was an elective, you will need to complete another unit to meet the credit point requirements of your course, but you do not necessarily need to repeat the failed unit.

  • Failed units will be changed to planned in your study plan within three working days of results being released. Once updated, you can enrol in the unit again.
  • If you have failed a unit three or more times, you will need to submit an Enrolment Amendment with a personal statement to re-enrol.
  • Your statement should outline the reasons why you failed the unit and the steps you will take to ensure you successfully pass.
  • If you have failed a unit that is a prerequisite for another unit, you will be automatically withdrawn from the linked unit.
