Yes.
A Leave of Absence is not automatically granted, so you need to re-enrol. Failure to remain enrolled in subject(s) each semester, or failure to apply for leave of absence for any semester in which you do not intend to study, may result in the cancellation of your degree admission. If this happens, you may have to re-apply for admission to your course.
You will need to submit your leave of absence application prior to the census date to avoid financial liability for the units you are enrolled in. If you are an undergraduate or postgraduate student, you will also incur an Academic Penalty (fail) if you apply for a leave of absence after the academic penalty date.
Everything you need to know about Leave of Absence and how to apply is on our Leave of Absence website.
Important: If you are an international student, you may be able to take a leave of absence for six months at most. If the reason you’re on leave persists for more than six months, you need to speak to an International Student Adviser. Please note that your application for a leave of absence will need to be carefully assessed at time of application to ensure that you meet eligibility criteria. For further information please visit our Taking time off from study for International students webpage.
