How do I withdraw from my course?

Published 22/10/2007 03.28 PM   |    Updated 03/06/2026 02.00 PM

To withdraw from your course, you need to complete a withdrawal from course application under the ‘My Forms’ section of My Swinburne. A separate form is available for Swinburne Online students.

There are many reasons you might be considering withdrawal, but before making a final decision, it’s worth exploring your options

  • Need a lighter workload? Local students may wish to reduce their study load rather than withdraw completely.
  • Considering a different path? Our Future Students team can help you explore other courses that may be a better fit.
  • Struggling with your current course? Reach out to our Study Support services for academic help and guidance.
  • Need time away? You may be eligible for a leave of absence, allowing you to take a break and return later.
  • Haven’t started yet? If you haven’t commenced your course, you might consider deferring your offer to a later intake.
