If you withdraw from a unit or course after the census date, you’ll still be required to pay your fees, including any HELP debt, VET Student Loans or Student Services and Amenities Fees.
If you withdraw after the academic penalty date, your academic transcript will show a WF (Withdrawn Fail) grade. All key dates are located on the Academic Calendar.
Your options include:
- completing the unit. Contact your Unit Convenor and Study Support for guidance, resources and strategies to help you succeed. If you’re changing courses, completing your current units could earn you credit towards your new course
withdrawing from the unit and incurring the relevant penalty.
Withdrawing due to illness or Special Circumstances?
If you can’t continue your studies because of serious illness or other special circumstances and you’re a local student, you can apply for a Post-Census Remission of Debt (removal of HELP debt). If you’re an international student, you can apply for a Post-Census Refund by contacting our International Student Advisory team.
For higher education students, withdrawing after the academic penalty date means a withdrawn fail (WF) will appear on your transcript.
