As long as you still have at least 37.5 credit points or three (3) units of study remaining once you’ve completed your placement, you may register for a professional placement. These units do not have to be electives.
By completing a six-month Professional Placement, you will be enrolled in Professional Placement units totalling the equivalent of 50 credit points. This includes:
- Work Experience in Industry A (25 credit points)
- Integrated Professional Placement A (25 credit points)
By completing a 12-month Professional Placement, you will be enrolled in Professional Placement units totalling the equivalent of 100 credit points. This includes:
- Work Experience in Industry A and B (25 credit points each)
- Integrated Professional Placement A and B (25 credit points each)
Enrolling in a six-month or 12-month Professional Placement will change the structure and completion requirements of your degree and may extend your degree by up to 12 months.
Students completing a six-month professional placement may be eligible to receive one elective exemption (12.5 credit points). Students completing a 12-month placement may receive two elective exemptions (25 credit points total).
Exemptions are applied after students return from their professional placement. If students do not have free electives available, exemptions will not be applied.
This means your degree may be extended, but you’ll graduate with valuable industry experience. For more information, visit the Professional Placement webpage .
